Black History Month

First off, it's been forever since I've been able to post anything on here. It's been crazy at our school lately with benchmark mark testing and DIBELS. Now that it's over, back to teaching!

Tonight is our Black History Month Celebration at school. Each grade has put together a presentation for the celebration. The first grade has organized a piece we call "Dreamers." We are compaing famous African Americans to Martin Luther King Jr using his "I Have a Dream" speech. The kids are really excited for it!
Plus my AMAZING co-teacher drew this huge pictures for the kids to hold for each person. They are awesome!

Here is another shot of them. I tried to get my co-teacher in it, but she kept hiding her face!

Hope you all have a great weekend!!

Dinosaur Days...

Things are getting a little scary in our classroom. There are dinosaurs popping up everywhere!.
We are working on Topic 5 in Envisions Math which focuses on adding doubles. We tried to be a little creative by displaying our doubles on Tyrannosaurus Teeth. Check it out below!

We've been loving all the amazing "contraction surgeries" that have been pinned on pinterest lately.
We decided to take the idea and give it a little dino-flavor thanks to "Dr. Raptor" and his dinosaur bandaids. I think it came out pretty amazing. I seriously have the best co-teacher ever who was able to draw this unbelievable dino!!

Dino-Mite!!!

Our school has begun a two month investigation into dinosaurs. We try make it a little cross curricular by adding dinosaurs into math and reading. The worksheet below is one we've been using to help us with Topic 5 in EnVisions Math. The students have to match the cards to make ten. They then record it on the sheet. This is suppose to help so that they are more secure in math facts when they reach the upper grades. Feel free to use it in your class, but please leave a comment below!

"10" is Dino-mite!
